Poulin and Piétracupa win Gold at the 2026 IMGA World Masters Games

Two of our members from Quebec, Manon Poulin and Michel Piétracupa ventured out to Abu Dhabi, and in early February participated in the 2026 IMGA (International Masters Games Association) World Masters Games Weightlifting Championships. Manon competed in the W60/69 kg category and was successful in all of her six attempts, winning a gold medal with Snatch attempts at (33 kg, 35 kg and 37 kg) and Clean & Jerk attempts at (41kg ,43kg ,45kg) for a total of 82 kg.

Michel was also a gold medal winner in his M65/65 kg category. He missed his second Snatch of 52 kg , but succeeded on his third attempt. In the Clean and Jerk, Michel got his second attempt at 60 kg for a total of 112 kg.

Both athletes have qualified for the 2026 IMWA World Masters Weightlifting Championships in Athens, Greece. In the photographs are two very happy Canadian Masters Weightlifters displaying their championship awards.

Poulin et Piétracupa remportent l'or aux IMGA World Masters Games - Haltérophilie 2026

Deux de nos membres du Québec, Manon Poulin et Michel Piétracupa, se sont aventurés à Abu Dhabi et, au début de février, ont participé aux Championnats mondiaux d'haltérophilie IMGA (International Masters Games Association) 2026. Manon a concouru dans la catégorie F60/69 kg et a réussi à chacune de ses six tentatives, remportant une médaille d'or avec les tentatives d’arraché (33 kg, 35 kg et 37 kg) et d'épaulé-jeté (41 kg, 43 kg, 45 kg), pour un total de 82 kg.

Michel a également remporté la médaille d'or dans sa catégorie H65/65 kg. Il a raté son deuxième arraché de 52 kg, mais a réussi à sa troisième tentative. Au épaulé-jeté, Michel a réalisé sa deuxième tentative à 60 kg pour un total de 112 kg.

Les deux athlètes se sont qualifiés pour les Championnats du monde IMWA Masters d'haltérophilie 2026 à Athènes, en Grèce. Sur les photos, deux haltérophiles canadiens Masters très heureux exhibent leurs prix de
